On September 30, the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association co-hosted the 11th Joint Committee Meeting of the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) with Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the American Institute in Taiwan, the Australian Office, and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei. At the Joint Committee Meeting, participants reviewed the GCTF activities in 2025 and exchanged views on priority areas of cooperation for 2026.
Since 2019, the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association has participated in the GCTF as a full partner. This year, the Association co-hosted workshops on combatting new psychoactive substance-related crimes and tracing illicit financial flows, whole-of-society resilience, global public-private partnerships in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR), sustainable development, media literacy, and energy resilience. Experts from Japan in these fields also participated.
Next year, GCTF workshops are planned to be held in the fields of telecommunications resilience, cyber defense, transnational repression, sustainable development, and energy resilience.
