On June 17th, the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association co-hosted a GCTF virtual seminar titled New Developments in IP Protection and Combating Digital Infringement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Taiwan), the Taiwan Ministry of Justice, the Taiwan High Prosecutors Office, and the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT).
Mitsuaki Hoshino, Deputy Chief Representative of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association gave a speech at the opening ceremony. In addition, the 1st session of the seminar included an introduction to judicial practices in Japan from Chikako Hashimoto, Executive Director of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association and an explanation of how intellectual property rights pertaining to parallel imported goods are handled in Japan.
This seminar was held over two days (17th&18th) with participation from intellectual property experts from Taiwan, the US, the EU, Singapore and Japan and knowledge of intellectual property systems, operation and so on from each country and region was shared and discussions were furthered.
