On September 30th, the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association co-hosted a Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) hybrid seminar with the theme of Building a Sustainable Aviation System: Safe and Green with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Taiwan) and the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and Chief Representative, Hiroyasu Izumi gave a speech at the opening ceremony.

At this hybrid seminar, experts from Japan, the US and Taiwan shared their knowledge from the aspect of aviation security. The Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association will continue to cooperate in working to build a safe and green global air transportation system.

The speech from Chief Representative Izumi follows.

Foreign Minister, Mr. Joseph Wu
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada Representative, Mr. Harry Tseng
AIT Washington Managing Director, Ms. Ingrid Larson
Distinguished guests,

We are very pleased to co-host the GCTF Hybrid seminar related to Civil Aviation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan and the American Institute in Taiwan for the first time this year.

Taiwan is an extremely important partner and trusted friend to Japan, sharing fundamental values such as freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, as well as having close economic ties and people to people exchanges.

In today’s seminar, we concentrate our topic upon aviation security.

It is very important for the international community to share knowledge and experiences with Taiwan in this area.

With the global emphasis on SDGs, while continuing to ensure the highest standard of aviation safety, the industry also has to seek sustainable development in terms of environmental, social, and governance.

Taiwan CAA and the major airlines in Taiwan are continuing to pursue aviation safety and sustainability, and we highly appreciate that Taiwan has been playing a major role in this effort.

I believe today's seminar will be a good opportunity to share our efforts to build a safe and green global air transportation system.

Finally, I would like to thank all of you for your efforts in organizing today's GCTF Hybrid seminar.

Thank you very much.
