On June 23-25, the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association co-hosted a Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) workshop titled “Global Public-Private Partnerships in HA/DR: Disaster Governance and Sustainable Operation” in collaboration with Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Science and Technology Council, National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), the Australian Office, and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei.
At this workshop, Mami Mizutori, Former Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, and Head of UNDRR/Specially Appointed Professor, and Strategic Management Advisor, Tohoku University, Wataru Fujishita, Executive Controller, General Media Administration, Senior Commentator, NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), Masatsugu Saika, President & Representative Director, GEO SEARCH Co., Ltd., Shohei Matsuura, Deputy Director General, International Affairs Division, Strategic Planning Department, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience, Satoru Nishikawa, Specially Appointed Professor, International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS), Tohoku University, Tadataka Ikeda, Official, Community Engagement Division, Community Engagement and Development Bureau, Kobe City Government, Takeshi Komino, Chairperson, Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) presented on knowledge and initiatives for humanitarian aid and disaster relief preparedness. Additionally, experts from Taiwan, the US, Australia, and Canada shared their expertise and experiences.
The Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association will continue to support the GCTF in its further development.
